Freelancing: The Perfect Job For Stay At Home Moms

For some of us, being a full-time mother is our drive in life. However, a lot of us want to have a career as well. Whether you’re married or a single mom, that desire to do something more in life can be strong.

Though it would be nice to juggle full-time motherhood with a full-time, high-paying career, it’s just not doable for some of us. You can be a working mother AND a stay at home mom. But there is an answer to this quandary: freelancing.

I started freelancing just over two years ago. As a pregnant mother of a two-year-old, I found myself in an unpleasant state, both physically and mentally.

And while I cheer on those who are able to handle a career outside of the home, the fact remains that not all of us can tackle the challenges faced as a mother with a full-time career.

I had always wanted to be a writer. And when I say “always,” I mean ever since I was a little girl.

My mother told me that writing was my gift.

However, fate took me down a different path. But I don’t regret going down the various paths I chose, either, for it made me the woman and the writer I am today.

As I have written countless blogs, one thing stuck out to me: finding what you love to do is key to a successful career. And it doesn’t necessarily have to be in an office.

We can be a competitive force in many industries while doing the other thing we love: raising our children.

And my writing, though I love it, led me towards something I love, and that’s technology and blogging.

And tech is where it’s at these days. The great thing about it is, most tech-related careers can be done as a freelancer.

Furthermore, pursuing an education in many tech-related fields can be done at home and in your own time.

When I decided to go back to school I went for an online masters in data science. This kind of training allows me to combine my writing with tech, as well as gives me some power behind my voice in a predominantly male-oriented sector.

But the most important aspect of it all is that it allows me to pursue a full-fledged career in data science while remaining a freelancer.
