With the end of 2017 just around the corner, many of us will be thinking of what happened during the last year – the ups as well as the downs. This opportunity to evaluate the year just gone is a great way to start thinking about ways of improving the year to come. There are many ways – some big and some small – that will make 2018 a year to remember for all the right reasons.
Decorate
If your home interior décor hasn’t been changed for a good few years, make 2018 the year in which you have a makeover. It doesn’t have to be something huge, you don’t have to change the whole house, but doing a few small things to make it look different to last year will give you a boost. You could create a feature wall in the living room, or add some rugs and cushions to give a pop of extra color, for example. If you want to do something big, get a new kitchen or bathroom – it’s always fun to pick out new appliances and color schemes.
Get A New Hairstyle
It’s amazing what a new hairstyle can do to make you feel more confident and happier. If you’ve had long hair for many years, cut it (preferably in a salon) into a bob, or even a pixie cut. Have a different color– go from blonde to brunette, or brunette to redhead, for example. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, why not turn it bright green or bubblegum pink?
Get A New Car
There is nothing quite like sinking into the driving seat of a new car. There is a special smell, a special feeling, it’s exciting and who knows where the road will take you. Even if it takes you to the same places as it did last year, that’s okay – you’re in a new car and the possibilities are endless. Leasing a car is a great alternative to buying one, as you have a lot more flexibility in terms of monthly payments and choice of car.
Start A Business
If it was work that made your 2017 less thrilling than it could have been, what about starting your own business and being your own boss? If you get it right, this could certainly improve your life hugely; it will be a lot of hard work at the beginning, but the rewards will make every second worth it. There are so many options when it comes to which business to go into – choose something you’re good at or are interested in, otherwise it will be more hard work than it needs to be. You can start your new business on the side while you continue to work a full-time job too, giving you the best of both worlds.
Get Active
A lot of people decide to make getting fit and healthy one of their new year resolutions, but not so many of them keep it up throughout the rest of the year. Be one of the people who do. Join a gym or invest in some exercise classes, and you’ll feel a lot better for it. Even if you would rather not make that kind of commitment, you can simply go for regular bike rides, walk when you would have taken the bus, or use the stairs instead of the elevator.
Get Spiritual
Make it your goal in 2018 to read the entire Bible! If you have an iPhone, look for “Bible in One Year” in the App Store. If you prefer something less technology inclined, check out backtothebible.org for tips on how to get through the best book on the planet, in one year with an easy to follow reading plan.
