A lot of workers have had to adjust from working in a traditional office environment to working from home in 2020, but some people have always worked this way. If you’re an individual who has run a business from your home, you may be used to having clients visit your home office and as well as other visitors coming and going. If you’re starting to see customers in your home workshop or office again, here are some tips to make sure you’re doing this as safely as possible.

Try to Set Up Video Meetings Instead

Face-to-face meetings are always better, but considering the current circumstances, many people would prefer to rely on apps like Zoom, Skype, or Microsoft Teams to host meetings. You may have some clients or business associates who would like to come and see you in person at your home office, but where you can try to limit the number of people coming in and out of your workspace, particularly if it’s accessed through your main living space, rather than your office is in a converted garaged or separate building outside the main property.

Stock Up on Sanitiser

If it’s just you working from your home office, you might be happy with sticking to a normal bottle of sanitizer on your desk, but if you’re going to have clients visit with you, or have an employee coming into work, perhaps investing in a more robust sanitizer dispenser is worth it. There’s a range of touch-free hand sanitizers available to choose from the company Touch Free Sanitisers. This will also be handy for future hygiene practices at your home office, not just for COVID-19.

Stay Active

Staying active on social media and other platforms that you use to communicate with your customers is key. Yes, you should be doing this anyway if you want to stay focus, but a lot of people are trying to be more cautious about how they spend their money at the moment as there is a lot of uncertainty about job security. Staying active and even offering customers discounts and other incentives to still buy your products or hire you for a job might be necessary to keep a steady cash-flow.

Try to Switch Off at the End of the Day

If you’re already used to working at home for your business, you may have already mastered this art. However, it’s not always easy to stop worrying about your ‘to-do’ list, what your next marketing campaign is going to look like, or how you’re going to increase your sales next month. It’s even harder now that many small business owners are growing increasingly concerned about how they are going to survive throughout this pandemic. While you might be worried about these things, make sure you’re practicing good self-care and letting yourself relax in the evenings. Leave work behind the home office door and when you sit down for dinner, or to watch some TV, let yourself breathe and unwind.

Running a home-based business is a challenge at the best of times, but navigating through a pandemic and adjusting to the new restrictions only makes it harder. Use some of the tips above to help you manage your home business a bit easier during this time.
