Being a mom isn’t easy, but it sure is rewarding, especially when you can look back on the year and think about all you and your family have accomplished. Looking forward to the New Year and a new decade, you may be wondering what kind of resolutions you should be making that’ll benefit both you and your household.

Here are five New Year Resolutions that you should consider taking up this year. Remember to take on only what you can realistically do, otherwise you’ll just stress yourself out because you weren’t able to accomplish everything you set out to do.

Save More Money

It’s pretty common for families to be struggling with debt in this current economic climate. That being said, it can be difficult for people to save money when they are putting all of it towards paying debt off.

Check out these money saving tips to help you take charge of your finances. Some important ones include:

  • Learning to live frugally
  • Understanding your finances
  • Creating a monthly budget and sticking with it

Eat Healthier

Eating healthy isn’t always easy, especially when the unhealthy foods are usually easier and cheaper to get. This year, make it a resolution to eat less processed food and stick to home cooking instead.

Some tips for healthy eating include:

  • Eat lots of fruits and vegetables
  • Choose high fiber starchy carbohydrates like whole-wheat pasta, brown rice or potatoes with their skins on
  • Include more fish in your diet
  • Reduce saturated fat and sugar

Exercise More

It can be difficult to get out and get the family to exercise when everyone is so busy and when the kids don’t want to go out. But that doesn’t mean you still can’t try, even if it’s only small things.

For example, if your kids don’t like the idea of exercising, just plan out an activity that is fun and involves physical activity. You can go to the park, visit a museum, or take them to an indoor playground.

Practice Self-Love

Moms spend so much time thinking about everyone else’s needs that they often forget about their own. The thing is that your kids look up to you as an example of how to treat themselves, so it’s important to love yourself and do things for you that make you happy. That way, they will grow up with the same habits as well.

Consider meditating or saying positive affirmations in the morning – you can even do it with your kids so that they learn how to. Remember to give yourself a pat on the back and stop the negative talk. Change your attitude and your speech to be more positive. You’d be surprised to see the difference it makes.

Make More Quality Family-Time

Technology often disconnects us from our loved ones, even when living in the same home. Pick one night each week to switch off and spend quality time together. Consider doing something like a game night – your kids will love it more than you’d think.

Stick With It

Whatever resolution you choose, just make sure you stick with it. The rewards will be worth it in the end!
