Plus-Size Fashion Tips for The Holiday Season

Baby it’s cold outside which means it’s time to get your wardrobe ready for winter with our plus size fashion tips for the holiday season and beyond! From scarves, gloves, and hats, to tall leather boots and cozy woolen sweaters, it’s time to embrace the cold weather (if you haven’t already).

Although a lot of us feel like wrapping our whole selves with a warm blanket, we should direct our gaze towards smart-looking plus size fashion for colder weather so you don’t end up looking like a fluffy pumpkin.

There are some curves and even a little bare skin in this year’s cold-weather apparel and cool colors will rule the streets. Plus size fashion has come a long way – so let someone else wear an ugly Christmas sweater to that holiday party!

Cool like the Snow Queen

Cool colors are in this Autumn and Winter, and by cool we mean blues and purples that bring out your inner snow queen. Queens are regal and serious and inspire a sense of awe – and we have some amazing new shapes and accentuate everything that inspires that awe indeed. Remember that purple is the official color of royalty and a regal color for plus size women to wear!

Cruelty Free

Fur has long gone out of the mainstream plus size fashion market but there’s a reason it’s been there in the first place. It’s pretty, it’s soft and it’s warm – it makes the perfect accent for a winter or fall coat. The making of faux fur has reached a state of the art, and fashion designers all over are taking advantage of the realistic and beautiful furs available on the market. Another plus of faux fur, aside from a free and clear conscience, is that it comes in just the perfect colors to match your wardrobe.

Pear Shape

This is one of our absolute favorite plus size fashion trends this season – dresses and coats that taper out on the bottom, only to dramatically tuck in and create a beautiful and feminine bell shape. One of the many advantages of this, is that it changes your center of gravity and you look more grounded. If you happen to be a little self conscious when wearing jackets with a deep waist cut, this neat little trick is for you. It’s also reminiscent of beautiful, princess-like dresses of the late victorian era. Guaranteed to make for a feel-good, look-great Autumn for plus size women.

Winter Formal

Whether it’s a fancy holiday party or a romantic winter wedding, there’s always some confusion as to how exactly to go about it. We’ve been to weddings and fancy parties before – sure! But how to handle such an event in cold weather when most dresses on the market are either sleeveless, have short sleeves or are almost downright topless.

Luckily, there are some new trends in plus size fashion that have you covered (literally!). Winter and Autumn fashions have come to save the day. This season, lace is very popular, and you are able to veil yourself in layers of romantic and meticulous looking layers. Mid length everything is very much the rave for plus size fashion as well. Mid-length dresses and sleeves will keep you warm but also give you an ease of movements and let you dance the night away without overheating.

Scarves and Wraps

Like we said before, scarves are an essential part of this time of year, especially for plus size fashion, but that doesn’t mean that you should go for any old boring scarf. Fur is in, and that means that scarves this season are embellished with soft and wild accents. If you don’t like the fur look (however vegan it might be), there are many other options that make your wrap stand out, like embroidery, lace, or pearls. Pearls, in particular, go great with the grey and cool color schemes of the season.

Come in From the Cold

It’s getting colder and colder every day. If you already took out your winter wardrobe out of the closet, maybe it’s time to go out and accessorize or get something completely new to make you feel like an ice queen on those cool and grey mornings, or during that upcoming holiday party and all those family get-togethers? Time for some hot toddies and retail therapy!
